SERVICE PROJECTS

We have an ambitious plan for 2011/12 which includes:

Work with local schools and other organisations to fund the provision of these boxes. Shleterbox respond instantly to natural and man-made disasters by delivering boxes of aid to those who who are most in need.

Each box supplies an extended family of up to 10 people with a tent and essential equipment to use while they are displaced or homeless.

After 20 years of hard work, Rotary and its partners are on the brink of eradicating this tenacious disease, but a strong push is needed now to root it out once and for all. It is a window of opportunity of historic proportions.

We work with Cardiff County Council to improve the appearance of Llanishen Village and to sponsor the provision of floral displays in Roath Park

We support local young people through sponsorship of their attendance at the Rotary Youth Leadership outward bound courses held in the Brecon Beacons

We work with local schools to sponsor and organise competitions such as the Junior Schools Athletics, Public Speaking competitions, Chess competition, Essay competitions, Gardening competition, Llanishen High School Merit Awards

We plan to further develop our links with the Melkbos township outside Capetown South Africa (where we provided and ambulance) to work of the “Melkbos Tractor Project” and to provide support for a local school

Where would Llanishen, Lisvane and Thornhill be without the annual sleigh run?

We actively support the work of Llanishen Good Neighbours who provide assistance to the elderly in our area

IN ADDITION TO THE ABOVE WORK OUR PLANS ALSO INCLUDE:

the collection of used spectacles for distribution in third world countries
