CHAIRMAN - GEOFF HOLLOWAY

During the Rotary year 2007/8 it will be the intention of the Committee to introduce new projects, review projects from previous years for possible re-development and also to further develop existing worthwhile ongoing current projects. We will also investigate the possibility of sourcing and developing a major community project which may require and qualify for district match funding.

Of the existing projects, it will be our intention to continue with the following within the new programme.

Message in a bottle

It is felt that further work is required to develop this excellent project led by Cardiff Bay Club

Rotary Disabled Sports

Cardiff Llanishen have supported this day for many years and will continue to do so.

Kids’ Day Out

This great day for children at Cefn Mably Farm will be repeated

Senor Citizens’ Bus Trip

We plan to continue to run this popular event.

Driving Support

We will continue to provide driving support to a number of organisations such as MS, Mencap and Cardiff Institute for the Blind, provided by members of the club in general. Although the Rotarians who are involved with this activity do not trumpet their involvement, they must be recognised as providing a valuable contribution to the special needs community. “This is truly, Service Above Self”

Radio Glamorgan

In addition to the clubs financial support we will   communicate with Radio Glamorgan to pursue other possible areas of interest.

Huggard Centre

Support of the centre will continue through the next Rotary year. The needs of the homeless in Cardiff are so often ignored and we, in Rotary, can help provide much needed aid and support.

Roath Park Fete

The club Skittle Alley will be used in this function on the 14 July 2007.

Community Projects to be reconsidered.

Stroke Awareness Day       Providing the committee can find a suitableVenue, this day will be re- instated in the new Rotary year.

New Community Projects

This year the committee wish to explore a number of new projects, whilst preparatory work has to be carried out before we can confirm their happening, the new projects under consideration are:

  • a Rotary Glade established at Cefn onn Parc
  • liaison with the community police to consider interactive community projects
  • a community project/competition covering the community environment with local schools.
  • investigation of potential for a major community project.
  • consideration of possible further support to local organisations i.e Llanishen Good Neighbours.
  • identify a worthy recipient of the Community Award presented in memory of past president Barnard Weare.
